The NC Black Repertory Company is still accepting submissions for several remaining components of the 2017 National Black Theatre Festival.  Please be aware of all deadline dates as they differ for each component.

2018 Workshops and Seminars

Dear Artists:

 Thank you for inquiring about the Workshops & Seminars, a component of the 2017 National Black Theatre Festival® (NBTF). Festival dates are July 31 – August 5, 2017 in Winston-Salem, NC.  An array of workshops and seminars are conducted by theatre professionals, scholars and celebrities during festival week.

These events are free and open to the public of all ages, thus workshop presenters are not paid nor are travel/lodging costs covered.

Below is information regarding the submission guidelines for the workshops and seminars. Please be aware of all deadline dates as they differ for each component.

2017 NBTF SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

In order for NBTF to notify you promptly, each submission package must include the following:

A formal letter of introduction clearly stating the following:

  • Name of presenter, address, city, state, zip code, office numbers (phone/fax), and e-mail address.
  • Synopsis of workshop/seminar and objective.
  • Detailed list of physical needs.
  • Supporting materials (books, articles, pamphlets etc.) you want to include/sell during workshop.

Each presenter is responsible for providing all technical equipment they need for the workshop/seminar.

2017 International Colloquium

Thank you for inquiring about the International Colloquium, a component of the 2017 National Black Theatre Festival® (NBTF) to be held July 31 – August 5, 2017 in Winston-Salem, NC.  The International Colloquium is a collaborative effort between the National Black Theatre Festival, Winston-Salem State University and the Black Theatre Network.

Theme:
The Black Theater: Reflections of Citizenship, Access, Freedom and Criminal Justice

Dates and Deadlines:

  1. Monday, February 28, 2017: Proposal Abstracts must be received by 5:00 p.m.
  2. Monday, March 31, 2017: Acceptances announced, and Invitation sent to presenters and panel leaders. These will be accompanied with terms of participation and hospitality
  3. Wednesday, May 02, 2017: Acceptance of Invitation to present must reach the Task Force at the addressed provided.
  4. Friday, June 09, 2017: Submission of Draft Presentations should reach the Coordinator, Dr. Oyèláràn, ready to go to Facilitators and Discussants. It is critical that discussants receive your presentation no later than July 1, 2017. That will enable them to prepare creative leads for productive audience participation.

2017 Youth Talent Showcase

Dear Artists:

Thank you for inquiring about the National Youth Talent Showcase, a component of the 2017 National Black Theatre Festival® (NBTF) to be held July 31 – August 5, 2017 in Winston-Salem, NC. The National Youth Talent Showcase is open to youth of all ages from across the country.

Below is information regarding the submission guidelines for the National Youth Talent Showcase.  Please be aware of all deadline dates as they differ for each component.

In order for NBTF to notify you promptly, each submission package must include the following:

  • A DVD, Vimeo, or Youtube link of  your performance.  Electronic submissions should be send to hamlinss@ncblackrep.org
  • Name of performer/presenter, address, city, state, zip code, office numbers (phone/fax), and e-mail address
  • A submission fee of $35.00 is required  to cover administrative expenses.

All checks should be made out to the North Carolina Black Repertory Co. (NCBRC).

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: May 29, 2017
