NBTF FILM FEST

Dear Artists:

Thank you for inquiring about the NBTF Film Fest, a component of the 2019 National Black Theatre Festival® (NBTF) to be held July 29 – August 3, 2019 in Winston-Salem, NC.

This event recognizes independent filmmakers for their enormous contributions to the industry. African Americans have long made a profound change in the landscape of cinematic expression. Many of these changes are due to the hard work and dedication of African American artists behind the camera.

Below is information on how to submit materials for the NBTF Film Fest. Please be aware of all deadline dates because they differ for each component.

In order for NBTF to notify you promptly, each submission package must include the following:

● Name of presenter, address, city, state, zip code, cell/home phone and e-mail
● A URL link of the complete film short (30 minutes or less)
● Film synopsis and exact length of film
● URL link to the film’s trailer
● Printed reviews of film. Identify the publication(s). Send copies only.
● Highlight of celebrity performers
● $35.00 submission fee to cover administrative expenses

If your film is selected, be prepared to make available a DCP, Digital Cinema Package, that can be downloaded for public airing in a theatre.

Films intended for the NBTF Film Festival must be submitted electronically here: https://goo.gl/forms/aDsE4s1S7QwY82U22 . Please upload a YouTube link or Vimeo of the entire production.

NBTF WORKSHOPS & SEMINARS

Dear Artists:

Thank you for inquiring about the Workshops & Seminars, a component of the 2019 National Black Theatre Festival® (NBTF) to be held July 29 – August 3, 2019 in Winston-Salem, NC. An array of workshops and seminars are conducted by theatre professionals, scholars and celebrities during Festival week. These events are free and open to the public of all ages, thus workshop presenters are not paid.

Below is information regarding the submission guidelines for the workshops and seminars. Please be aware of all deadline dates as they differ for each component.

In order for NBTF to notify you promptly, each submission package must include the following:

  • Name of presenter, address, city, state, zip code, cell/home numbers, and e-mail
  • Synopsis of workshop/seminar and objective
  • Physical space need
  • Supporting materials (books, articles, pamphlets etc.)

Thank you for inquiring about the National Youth Talent Showcase, a component of the 2019 National Black Theatre Festival® (NBTF) to be held July 29 – August 3, 2019 in Winston-Salem, NC. The National Youth Talent Showcase is open to youth of all ages from across the country.

Below is information regarding the submission guidelines for the National Youth Talent Showcase. Please be aware of all deadline dates as they differ for each component.

In order for NBTF to notify you promptly, each submission package must include the following:

  • Tape/DVD for viewing
  • Name of performer/presenter, address, city, state, zip code, office numbers (phone/fax), and e-mail

INTERNATIONAL COLLOQUIUM

Thank you for inquiring about the International Colloquium, a component of the 2019 National Black Theatre Festival® (NBTF) to be held July 29 – August 3, 2019 in Winston-Salem, NC. The International Colloquium is a collaborative effort between the National Black Theatre Festival, Winston-Salem State University and the Black Theatre Network.

The theme for the 2019 International Colloquium is “The Future of Black Creative/Performing Arts as Liberatory Practice”.
