First National Black Theatre Festival

The first National Black Theatre Festival was held in Winston-Salem, NC on August 14-20, 1989.  It was a milestone of completion, a zenith point for Larry Leon Hamlin and NCBRC.  The theme for the first Festival was “A Celebration and Reunion of Spirit.” (Caption:  Herman LeVern Jones came to town early to help Hamlin get started on the National Black Theatre Festival.
