Paradise Blue

The Ensemble Theatre, Houston, TX

A jazz infused, noir inspired drama where we will meet Blue, a gifted trumpeter, who contemplates selling his once vibrant nightclub in Detroit’s Blackbottom neighborhood. Set in 1949 against the backdrop of urban renewal, Blue must choose between escaping his demons and the human cost of leaving the only home he’s ever known. Written by Dominique Morisseau. Directed by Eileen J. Morris. (Drama, General Audience)

“A cleverly designed set, a steamy plot, and characters that are hard to forget…a riveting and moving play. Houston Chronicle

“To call the talent assembled for this production all-star is not an overstatement…in a surprise to no one, they deliver. Oh boy, do they deliver.” Houston Press
