Stories In Motion: When Movement Meets Storytelling
By Taylor J. Mitchell
Stories in Motion strives to introduce the concept of storytelling through movement. Emphasizing the body as a narrative instrument. Students will walk away with being able to translate narrative structure (beginning, middle, end) into embodied movement. Demonstrate collaborative choreography skills using improvisation and composition. Explore storytelling traditions through movement, emphasizing clarity, intention, and emotional truth. As well as, reflect on how personal, fictional, and historical stories can be communicated without spoken language. This workshop allows students to stop searching for the beat, but to find the story.
Friday, August 1, 11:15am – 1:15pm
Salem 1 A/B, Benton Convention Center
