“Time periods don’t just shift in and out—they exist together, with characters from different eras moving through the same rooms as if time isn’t fully separated.”
—Michelle F. Solomon, Artburst Miami
Written & Directed by Layon Gray
Searching for Willie Lynch explores the chilling legacy of an alleged 1712 speech by Willie Lynch, a notorious slave owner on Virginia’s James River. The play follows the interconnected lives of three families living in the same Louisiana house during different eras—1930, 1965, and 2008. As conflict and memory collide, a mysterious door within the home becomes a bridge to the past and a symbol of future possibility, revealing buried truths and unbreakable bonds. Featuring celebrity artist, Dorien Wilson of the hit television show, The Parkers.
