SYLVIA SPRINKLE-HAMLIN
ROLLING WORLD PREMIERE
The 2024 Sylvia Sprinkle-Hamlin Rolling World Premiere Award will facilitate at least three rolling world premieres for the winning play at regional Black theatres. The 2022 winner, Coconut Cake by Melda Beaty, was awarded five productions at the following theatres: Hattiloo Theatre in Memphis, NC Black Rep, The Ensemble Theatre in Houston, St. Louis Black Rep, and Westcoast Theatre Troupe in Sarasota.
The award was created to discover and develop new African American theatre classics, while promoting collaboration between African American theatre companies across the country. It is named in honor of IBTF Executive Producer Emeritus, Sylvia Sprinkle-Hamlin.
